It has been quite the journey to arrive where I am today, but I am very proud and honored to be able to assist you on your path to Health, Healing, and Happiness.

All of my life, I have been interested in growing food and using herbs to cure what ailed me. My grandfather had a nice family farm in which everyone helped sow the seeds, water the garden, harvest the crop, and prepare for the winter months that lie ahead. Spring was my absolute favorite time of the year. I loved the planting season – I could not wait to see the seedlings poking out of the soil. I loved the Summer; just to see the plants grow to a few feet tall and I loved climbing the apple and cherry trees. When Fall arrived, I was amazed at all of the wonderful fruits, vegetables, flowers, and herbs we grew. I did not like winter and could not wait for Spring. My family always called me the little farmer – they could not keep me out of it!

As time passed and I began my teenage years, my passion for nature and the cycles of the season went away. Not until my late 20’s and early 30’s did the pull of land and nature come screaming back into my life. I knew I wanted to be a “doctor”, but I did not want to go to Med School. (I have the weakest stomach in the world and that is not conducive to that type of profession!) It was also the time in which the pharmaceutical business took over everything and I could not buy and would not buy into that.

In 2002, I began researching every possible holistic school and “found” Chinese Medicine. As I began reading about it and learning about it, I knew I found my calling. Here was a program in which I would become licensed after the four-year training.

It was everything I was looking for – except Acupuncture. Yes, to study Herbal Medicine, you had to complete the Acupuncture program, which wasn’t anything I was interested in doing. I thought to myself “Gross, I would hate to put a needle in someone! What if I hurt them? What if I passed out, myself?” It gave me the “willies” so I passed and enrolled in a traditional school and started my MBA.

After three classes, my passion for holistic healing came roaring back. I still held off; I really did not want to put a needle in another human being.

Three years later in May of 2005, I took my first class in Acupuncture. If I wanted to be licensed in Herbal Medicine, then I needed to do this. I loved learning a “brand new way” of looking at the body and how it reacts to the weather and climate and emotions and feelings. I loved all of the theory classes and could not wait until the herb classes began. But I still had this mountain of fear and trepidation to overcome. All of my fellow students were signing up for clinic observation in their second semester so they could get to “needling.” I held off as long as I could.

When I finally took the class in which I had to needle something other than an orange, I took a deep breath and placed my first needle. Voila, I did it!!! Nothing bad happened.

I could not believe it. That was the first moment that I had a great appreciation for the healing powers of Acupuncture and I never looked back!! I learned the fine art of needling that was so smooth, even the most delicate and sensitive patients did not feel the needles. I became known at my school as the one “to go to if you are sensitive”. Other students tried to copy my technique and would watch me as I worked on my patients. I saw amazing positive changes in inpatients and I am thankful and humbled. Of course, my herb classes were everything I had imagined and wanted. I spent hours in the Herb Room soaking in the sight and smells of each.

And finally, after seven years of schooling and approximately 3600 hours of study, I graduated. It was and is, the hardest goal I have ever achieved.

I arrived at this moment in my life and I found my calling and the peace that it brings me. I am happy every day when I work with a patient to help them reach Health, Healing, and Happiness. It is my gift back to anyone who steps into my clinic and I am eternally grateful for the opportunity.

Work History

September 2011: Graduated from Phoenix Institute of Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture

February 1, 2013: I was awarded my Master’s Degree in Oriental Medicine.

May 10, 2013: National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine awarded me the Diplomate of Oriental Medicine.

June 3, 2013: Blackhawk Acupuncture and Herbal Healing Center, LLC was formed in the State of Colorado.

July 16, 2013: The State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies approved my license to practice.

Since July 2013: Mobile practice for acupuncture in the Denver Metropolitan area.

May 2017: Opened a location in Pueblo Colorado.

September 2017: Certified Prolotherapy/Acupoint Injection Therapy

February 2018: Certified in Plasma Rich Platelet Therapy

May 2018: Certified in Ozone Therapy

February 2019: Certified in Orthopedic Acupuncture
